<description>I&#039;m sorry, but The Secret is ridiculous.

Sure, it has some good ideas but the book seems to suggest some metaphysical, psychic or otherwise paranormal reason why thinking positively will bring you success.

Of course enthusiasm, open-mindedness and optimism will help improve your life! You&#039;ll be happier with what you have, people will like you better and you&#039;ll be more likely to notice and sieze opportunities that come along. That&#039;s no secret, pardon the pun.

But the idea that putting your thoughts out to the universe will cause a reaction in the universe itself is both absurd and insulting to those who succeed because they earn success.

If the point of the book is to trick fools into following good advice (that might otherwise sound like work), then so be it. But the fairy tale explanations in this book feel insulting. I certainly don&#039;t attribute my own successes to dumbly smiling at the world.

Colins last blog post..&lt;a href=&quot;http://workwebplay.com/2008/08/11/business-opportunities/&quot;&gt;Business opportunities are everywhere&lt;/a&gt;</description>
